English as an Additional Language

If your child is bilingual, we value their first language as much as the English they are learning. We believe a child’s first language should be encouraged at home. Where possible we will support it in nursery too. Being bilingual gives children a lifelong advantage in their learning, and helps them feel connected to their family culture. We use Makaton signing, visual communication boards and other forms of communication alongside speaking and listening, so that all children are included.
